Connect PS Access Controller to Switch or Switch 2: HID Remapper
Set-Up Difficulty: Medium
The HID Remapper is a device that allows use of different USB devices on different consoles and can be configured to allow use of the PlayStation Access Controller on the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. Multiple controllers can also be plugged into the HID Remapper at once and they will function as one controller on the console (allowing someone to use two Access controllers simultaneously on the Switch or Switch 2). Preconfigured HID Remapper devices are available through multiple sites linked below. The user simply needs to upload this profile onto the HID Remapper using the HID Remapper Configurator. Alternatively, a user can also make their own HID Remapper using this board from Adafruit and uploading the HID Remapper firmware (remapper_feather.uf2) available here. Please see the video for step-by-step instructions for setting up the HID Remapper to allow use of the PlayStation Access Controller on the Switch and Switch 2.
Connecting PlayStation Access Controller to Switch
Set-Up Difficulty: Medium
In order to connect your PlayStation Access Controller to the Switch, an adapter needs to be used to “trick” your Switch into thinking the Access Controller is a Nintendo Switch controller. The Cronus Zen adapter will allow you to connect and use the PlayStation Access Controller on the Switch (not Switch 2 currently). First, ensure that the Cronus Zen is updated to the latest firmware. Then, turn on Pro Controller Wired Communication on the Switch by gong to Settings > Controllers and Accessories > Turn on Pro Controller Wired Communication. Use a USB-C to USB-A cable to then plug the PlayStation Access Controller into the adapter and plug the adapter into the Switch. The Access Controller should now work on the Switch.
The buttons on the PlayStation Access Controller will also need to be mapped first to the desired controls before connecting to the Switch. Typically, this can only be done directly on the PS5 console. However, there is now a website that will allow users to map the controls from their computer. Use the link below to access the website that allows remapping of the controls on the PlayStation Access controller. Please see the video for instructions for setting up the Access Controller on the Switch.
