Connecting Xbox Adaptive Controller to PlayStation 5: XIM Matrix

Set-Up Difficulty: Medium

The XIM Matrix adapter will allow the Xbox Adaptive Controller to connect to the PS5 and play all PS5 games. This device connects through PS5 remote play. Using remote play will require a wired ethernet connection to a router, both to the XIM Matrix and to the PS5. If using a wired ethernet connection, there will be no lag in the activation of controls on the PS5. However, not all users will have their router near their gaming set up. Therefore, this setup may not be feasible for some users. It is one of the few options currently available for connecting the Xbox Adaptive Controller to the PS5. See the video for instructions on how to set up the XIM Matrix on the PS5.

Connecting Xbox Adaptive Controller to PlayStation 5: Cronus Zen

Set-Up Difficulty: Medium

The Cronus Zen adapter will allow the Xbox Adaptive Controller to connect the PS5 console. A workaround for connecting the Cronus Zen to the PS5 after the January 24th update was recently discovered. The January 24th update initially blocked the Cronus Zen from working completely on the PS5. However, the instructions shown in the video will allow the Cronus Zen to connect to the PS5 directly without using remote play. This will allow adaptive controllers, including the Xbox Adaptive Controller and the Quadstick, to work with the PS5 console. The downside of this method is that each time the console powers off or restarts, the setup will have to be reinitiated. Instructions are outlined in the video from the 5:00-6:30 timepoints, and should be followed each time their console restarts or reboots. This is currently one of the few options for allowing adaptive controllers to work with the PS5 directly without using remote play.
